[Owen can be seen knocking back some sort of alcoholic drink at the bar nearby Discedo's hospital and, judging by the empty glasses and bottles around him, he's been there a while.
At first it seems like the device has turned itself on without his knowledge, but then he begins talking, not looking at the camera at all.]
You know...doesn't really matter where you go, same shit happens no matter what. You meet people, you lose them, you end up alone and none of it even really matters.
Seems to me the only smart thing to do is become a hermit, at least then you avoid all that drama and the idiots who populate this ridiculous world.
And it's not just Fortuna or Earth, it's everyfuckingwhere. I've seen all kinds of species and learned about all these different places and you think, for just a second, maybe there is something better, something that makes it all worth it, but then the second passes and you realize it never changes.
Every species, in every world, in every universe; they're all exactly the same and none of it ever fucking changes.
[He sighs heavily, knocking back another drink, before switching the device off.]

You sure you want to be here, now? You're trying to care about a corpse!
[Action]
[Her voice gets a little louder as she speaks, totally unaware of anything going on around them.]
[Action]
Yeah? Well, you're wrong. It's just a lie. There is no 'home' to go back to for me, there's only the pitch black of nothingness you get after death. You know what that tells me? There was no point to anything that happened to me and anything I did.
You do all these things and try to save all these lives and not just for them, but for yourself too. You hope it might gain you some points or make your life worth somethin' and it really, really, doesn't. You get a big 'ol reward of nothing.
[Action] 1/3?
[Action] 2/3
[Action] 3/3
...you're dead?
[Action]
Yeah. Twice, actually. I got shot, just here, [He points to his chest near where his heart was.] and then I decided to walk around for a couple months like a zombie until I was done in, again, by radiation.
I'm about as dead as you can get.
[Action]
But even so, she took his hand and started tugging it, a silent way of saying 'let's go'.]
[Action]
...yeah, alright...
[Action]
[Action]
Why're you trying to help me?
[Action]
[It was said like it was something natural for her to say and in a way, it was. The first place Sora spotted was the Christian Frederick Apartments and that's where she went off to. It looked quiet enough for them so it wasn't anything when she found a free place on the first floor. She ushered Owen inside and made him sit on the couch in the living room.]
Alright, now tell me everything.
[Action]
[He sits readily enough but he looks anywhere but at her and scoffs.]
What exactly do you think I'm going to tell you? I don't talk to people...
[Action]
[Action]
I was part of a group whose job it was to find and capture stray aliens. It was a dangerous job, we all knew that when we joined.
After 2 years working there, I got shot in the chest. My boss...and friend, Jack, brought me back to life using some alien tech, but it didn't work like he thought it would and I got stuck.
I spent 2 months like a walking corpse...until I finally died again. Nuclear meltdown.
[Action]
But even as he explained, he could feel Sora squeeze his hand, shaking slightly. Her head was down so it was hard to tell what she was thinking.
If the tears rolling down her cheeks were a sign, then yeah.]
[Action]
Hey, now, there's no need for that. It's done, over. Shit happens..'sides, s'not like it was all bad or something.
[Action]
[Even with that, it wasn't helping.]
[Action]
Yeah...but living hurts. I'm sure you've had your hardships too, no need to go cryin' about mine.
[He tries to laugh it off like some joke.]
If you're cryin' 'bout the bare facts, don't think I'll tell you any of the details.
[He's slow and hesitant at first, but he takes back his hands so that he can pull her into a one-arm hug...probably the most affection he'd displayed in way too long.]
[Action]
...it's hard not to cry, ok? [Sniffles.]
[Action]
Then cry if you want to...I know...once you start, it's damn near impossible to stop.
[Action]
...but I'm supposed to be helping you. Not the other way around.
[Action]
I don't think you can help me...thanks, though.
Besides, you don't need to be cryin' over some old guy like me.
[Action]
Maybe not but I sure will try. And of course I'd cry for you, you're my friend!
[Action]
...thank you, Sora.
[He still couldn't look at her properly, too embarrassed by his own feelings, but his hold did tighten...if only a little.]
